Wylde Flowers: 10 Magical Tips For Beginners

If you’re new to Wylde Flowers, these handy tips and tricks should give you a fantastic headstart on this witchy farming simulator. After playing through this enchanting, cozy game ourselves, we’ve gathered all our tips, tricks, and hard-learned lessons — so you don’t have to!

1/10. Look for pearls after storms.

During your first playthrough of Wylde Flowers, you’ll find yourself needing a pearl or two! These treasures are a little harder to find in Fairhaven than other sea items like seaweed, shells, or coconuts. But it’s not too hard if you know when/where to look! We found that the best time to look for these rare items was during or right after a heavy storm on the beach. Heavy storms come with sounds of thunder and higher winds as opposed to light rain.

2/10. Be careful when changing into cat form.

This was a big learning lesson for us. Changing into a cat is a super great way to speed through town, picking up forageable items. But make sure you don’t have to do anything else that day because you won’t change back until the next day. This can be a bit of a bummer if your to-do list for that game day included talking to townspeople, turning in bulletin requests, or buying items. So make sure to plan beforehand!

3/10. If you hit a dead end, ask around town.

Wylde Flowers is more story-driven than a lot of other farming simulations. There are specific quests that you have to pick up and complete before it will let you progress. If you feel like you’ve hit a dead end and can’t seem to figure out how to continue, make sure you’ve asked around town and picked up all available quests!

4/10. Upgrade your pickax as soon as possible.

Wylde Flowers is a slow-paced, chill game that really encourages you to take things in stride and enjoy your time. But if you’re like us, there are certain things that we’d like to go just a little bit faster — especially mining. If you’re like us and want to mine faster/more efficiently, here’s what we did!

First, upgrade your pickax as soon as you can. More upgrades = faster mining + reduced energy consumption.

Second, set your sights on what you want to mine that day and only mine that thing. For example, if you’re looking for iron, stick to the early levels of the mine. That way, you don’t have to roll the dice between spawning three different ores at the lower levels.

Or, if you only want gems, try to only wack geodes and avoid the clay deposits. This removes the amount of time Tara takes to switch between her pickax and shovel.

5/10. You can change the game speed!

You read that right! Wylde Flowers lets you change how fast the day progresses. This can be super helpful if you’re struggling to fit all your chores in one game day or want nighttime to come a little faster. To change this, pause your game, click “Settings”, then select “Day Speed”. You should have a choice to choose either Relaxed, Normal, or Challenging.

6/10. Give your cows some extra love in exchange for milk!

Now, this might seem obvious at first. But we’re used to Stardew Valley and were lost without a milk pale. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Turns out, Tara does it for you! Once your new caff has some time to grow into an adult, your cow will start giving you milk in exchange for pets

7/10. Find blueberries next to the lighthouse.

Blueberries can be used to make a bunch of different foods to keep Tara going throughout the day. They can be hard to find if you don’t know where to look though! But you can find blueberry bushes around the lighthouse (above the beach)!

8/10. Wylde Flowers autosaves for you!

Thank god. This is always a huge concern when we pick up a new game. But Wylde Flowers is super easy to pick up and put down. While some games make you save manually or only when your character sleeps, you don’t have to worry about accidentally losing progress in this game!

9/10. Want to catch some crickets? Think feline.

We kid you not — we went the whole game without ever figuring out how to catch those crickets. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Turns out, you just have to change into a cat to catch crickets in the forest outside of town.

10/10. You can choose which ingredient to use for dye!

We — again — went through most of the game without knowing this (RIP all our expensive red chilis). ๐Ÿ˜ญ Fun fact, you can actually change the type of colored ingredient to create specific dyes.
