Whether it’s the fall season or you’re just feeling a little extra pumpkin-spicy ๐, there are plenty of games out there to match your vibe. If you’re looking to brew some potions, cast some spells, or harvest some herbs, this list of witchy video games is perfect for you!
So let’s get started!
1. Little Witch in the Woods
Little Witch in the Woods follows the brilliant (and slightly mischievous) Ellie Blueriver and her adventures as she takes up her apprenticeship in the village of Wisteria. With the help of her trusty hat Virgil, Ellie assists the Wisteria locals by gathering ingredients, completing quests, and making potions!
This life sim is a must-play for those who enjoy video games with loveable characters, adorable pixel art (and running through the forest in whimsical, witchy grab.) ๐ฎ First released as early access, the first part of Little Witch in the Woods offers about five hours of gameplay through the Prologue and first chapter. Come 2023, Sunny Side Up will release an additional 15 hours of content! The official release will offer a Prologue, three Chapters, and an Ending.
2. Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy is a title gamers and Harry Potter fans alike have been waiting in anticipation for since 2018. This video game takes players back to the familiar halls of Hogwarts โ but in the 1890s!
In this single-player game, weโll experience Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as fifth-year students. Hogwarts Legacy will offer RPG features such as character customization, skill trees, and an open world. We’ll also get to choose our preferred Hogwarts house (and what kind of witch or wizard we want to be). ๐ช While attending familiar classes such as Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, and Potions, you’ll also set out to uncover the long-forgotten mysteries of the wizarding world.
3. Wylde Flowers
Wylde Flowers is a colorful, heartfelt farm-sim with a twist (spoiler alert: itโs witches). ๐ In this fully voice-acted video game, you play as Tara as she moves to a new, yet familiar, island town with her grandmother and uncovers a family secret.
This witchy game has all the elements of a rich RPG including farming, mining, cooking, 30 characters to befriend (and some to romance!), and more. Not only can you get this game on Steam but itโs available on App Arcade as well. Check out my Wylde Flowers review for a closer look!
4. Witchbrook (Release date TBD)
While its release date has yet to be announced, Chucklefish promises that Witchbrook will offer an immersive, cutely-pixelated experience where players can attend classes as witches-in-training. We’ll be able to attend classes, turn in assignments, befriend classmates, and even fit in some extracurriculars. ๐งน
For those who like playing with others, Witchbrook will also offer multiplayer! From the handful of in-game screenshots posted by the developer, we might be able to brew potions, ride a broom to get around town, visit local shops, customize our character, and maybe have our own greenhouses!
5. Witchy Life Story
Witchy Life Story is an aesthetic, narrative sim where you play a witch-in-training (with only one more chance to prove yourself)! With the help of your familiar crow Ramsey, you’ll have to help the locals of Flora prepare for a successful harvest festival — or you’ll have to kiss witch lessons goodbye.
Create your own character, gather herbs, brew potions, and maybe even find some time for a tarot card reading or two! There are also plenty of charming, romance-able characters. ๐ฅฐ
